Happy Spring

We started the spring out a with some rain and it is still raining, but we have been having fun.

My mom came to visit while Scott was in Nicaragua so I could work. We had fun too and I miss her. Next, Scott's sister Jodi came to visit. We showed her around Detroit and its downfall. We were so glad to have been able to spend time with her. The kids ask about our visitors for days after they are gone.

Scott snapped this pic while I was work. Kali's chubby cheeks make me smile. She didn't get a nap this day and fell asleep while he was making dinner.

Caden's spring break was the week before Easter so we were able to fill the week with lots of fun activities.

We made sugar cookies and the kids probably ate more than they decorated. Especially Kali- that girl loves her sweets. It was morning too. Nothing like a bunch of sugar to start the day. :)

I wish I had a better picture of this, but the city has a marshmallow drop before Easter. There is a helicopter full of marshmallows and drops them over a field. The kids got to trade their marshmallows for a prize.

The next day the weather was a lot nicer and the kids went to an egg hunt in the park.

Look at that woman's face in the background. Serious stuff...

On Easter we had an egg hunt in the backyard after church and then went to some friend's house for dinner. On our way home we stopped at "Grandma" and "Grandpa's" house. That's what Caden calls our elderly neighbors. They are so sweet. It was a nice day.

I love spring and all of the beauty it brings.

It's so hard to find the time to do this- it gets overwhelming. We've been busy here with just everyday things. Caden and Kali are doing really well. I can't believe Kali is 18months. Crazy! She is getting so big and smart. She is very independent and doesn't want help with much, especially eating. She is potty training now. She does so good. I just have to take her and she goes. She hasn't started to tell me when she has to go yet. Sometimes I see her pulling at her pants and I ask her if she has to go and she will shake her head and walk to the bathroom. It has gone so much easier than it did with Caden. No treats, stickers or bribes this time.

I can't believe how much Caden has changed recently too. He is in school and is thriving. He is starting to read. He has word lists from school and is on his last one. Next he will start reading books! I can't believe it.... wasn't he just my little baby? He is such a happy boy and great big brother. He is always looking out for his sister.

Scott is finishing up his third year. I'm starting to feel like we are on the downward slide. I'm sure it will feel even better next year when we know where and what we are doing for his residency We are hoping to stay here, but we will go anywhere as long as he is happy with what he is doing. He is preparing for a medical mission in Nicaragua this month. He is excited to speak Spanish and have some great hands on experiences. He wants me to help him practice putting in IVs. I love that we can talk about work stuff. I'm keeping busy with work. I'm probably not working in the most ideal part of the hospital, but I am getting good experience and the schedule works well for us.

For Halloween we had a butterfly princess thing. Caden called her pinkalicous butterfly. Caden was none other than Woody, as if he would be anything else. Caden is starting to come around to sweets. Tootsie rolls are his favorite, weird. He is such a picky eater, don't know where he got that from. Kali, on the other hand, won't give the candy up.

Fall fun :)

We love dressing up...

We live a block away from the river and they had boat races so we went and watched. Sadly, the crash was the most exciting thing about the races. There was a jet ski show though and they did some cool tricks. Caden loved that, he was trying to stick his head through the railing so he could see and get splashed.

Went to the bounce house which is always fun. Promise Kal and Scott had fun...

So a lot has happened since my last post. Most importantly, Caden and Kali's birthdays. They are so close it's going to be hard not to always celebrate them together. We celebrated them separate and then had a party for them together on the weekend. But let's be honest- Caden was the only one that really new what was going on. Kali did get so excited about one present that she screamed, but other than that it was just another day for her.
